ITI 2026 Information

Dates and Times
May 26th - May 30th/31st, 2026
It is recommended that all In-Person participants arrive in Houston by Monday, May 25th.
​
ITI will then commence on May 26th beginning at 8:00am and continue until May 30th no later than 6:00pm.
​
Unless the participant is local, regional, or is able to obtain a later flight on May 30th, it is recommended that the departing flight be scheduled for Sunday, May 31st.
The two Houston airports are George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) which will be covered in the next section.

How to get from the airport to Rice University

PARKING​
The closest lot to Alice Pratt Brown Hall for visitors is the West Lot 2. You can pay using a credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay. The maximum amount charged for each 24 hour period is $13 per vehicle.
You can also park at the South College Lot or North College lot (close to the dormitories) for $2.75 per day per vehicle

Accommodations | Dorms, Hotels, and Meals
DORMS/ON CAMPUS HOUSING
In-Person participants/attendees are required to secure their own accomodation in Houston during ITI. All in-person participants/attendees are strongly encouraged to apply for on-campus housing promptly when the housing portal goes live.
In-person attendees will be notified when the housing application is live and ready!​​
In-person Participants and Auditors will find on campus shuttle routes that have stops close to the dormitories and Alice Pratt Brown Hall. These are air-conditioned shuttles for your convenience during ITI.
Here are some examples of one of the possible residential colleges you'll stay at on campus, called Martel Residential College. There are tour videos below and the floorplans of the rooms.
Below are the rates and info that ITI participants will be receiving by filling out the form:

Linens are not included but they do provide these items when requested at $5/night per person. Each linen pack includes: 2 sheets (twin XL), Pillowcase, Blanket, Pillow, 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 2 washcloths.

Laundry Services are available free of charge
Current shared room pricing is $61/night/person and single rooms were $71/night/person. Pricing is subject to change.

MEALS
​
Meals will be handled on a preloaded Tetra card (meal card) during the participant’s stay that can be used in the dining servery or any retail-dining locations across campus. For the dining servery- breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served 7 days a week (holiday schedule may vary), and Rice's ACF certified chefs cater to anyone including those with a food allergen and/or dietary restriction.

It is recommended to put at least $50 (bare minimum) on your Tetra Card for meals during the registration process so you can have food readily available for you when you arrive. It can take 24 hours to reload more points onto your card, and we don't want anyone hungry on day one!
There is an estimated cost of $150-$200 for food if you stay for all of ITI. It is possible you'll spend more if you show up early, or leave later.

Please note: The tetra meal cards are non-refundable but can be reloaded anytime during the guests stay. Again, we do want to note it may take up to 24 hours in order to reload tetra. The tetra meal card can be used in the dining servery or several retail locations on-campus.
HOTELS​
If you do not secure housing through Rice University, you are encouraged to stay in a hotel nearby Rice University. There will be no transportation services provided by ITI, so please plan accordingly to be able to commute to ITI each day. You will likely need to drive/rideshare from your hotel to Rice as Houston has very limited public transportation.
Some of the closer proximity hotels might provide shuttle service. Participants and Auditors are encouraged to inquire with the hotel prior to booking.
In-person Participants and Auditors will find off-campus Rice shuttle bus routes that have stops close to many of the nearby hotels.

Masterclass Spaces and Practice Rooms
Rice University boasts some of the best facilities in the country including the stunning Stude Concert Hall where ITI takes place. Participants are encouraged to bring a timpani practice pad for personal use as well, especially for morning warm up sessions.
Livestream and Masterclass Archive
LIVESTREAM
​
Virtual attendees will be able to watch every class live in real time through our unique partnership with The Percussion Conservatory. You can access the livestream by purchasing a Virtual Attendee Pass or by becoming a Percussion Conservatory member. All virtual attendees and PC Members will receive emails with easy instructions and direct links to access every class.​

ON-DEMAND MASTERCLASS ARCHIVE/RECORDINGS
Virtual Attendees, Participants, and Auditors will all have the opportunity to re-watch any of this Intensive's masterclasses for up to 300 days after the conclusion of ITI.
​
This way, if you cannot be available for a certain livestream due to a schedule conflict or timezone issue, you will still be able to watch every class as many times as you like, on-demand!

Mock Audition 2026
The ITI Mock Audition is a unique opportunity for our Participants. The winner of the ITI Mock Audition will perform on timpani with the Houston Symphony!

Detailed information about the ITI Mock Audition will be sent to Participants in advance of the mock audition. The Repertoire list will be posted here when it becomes available.
​
All participants will be provided a private, HD audio recording of their audition, and will also receive comments from all Faculty during a group debrief session.
*The ITI Mock 2026 Repertoire List will be announced on April 2nd, 2026.
Pricing and Registration
PRICING​
​
There are three different ways to be a part of ITI 2026:
​

Participant: You receive priority seating and will participate in at least one masterclass. You are guaranteed one private lesson during ITI from a Faculty Artist. You can participate in the ITI Mock Audition and will receive a private, HD recording of your audition. You will receive a complimentary membership for one year to The Percussion Conservatory.

Auditor: You attend ITI in person and watch all masterclasses as an audience member. You are not able to compete in the ITI Mock Audition or play in any masterclasses. You are able to participate in all four warm-up sessions with faculty and you may listen to the Mock Audition.

Virtual Attendee (online): You will watch all ITI masterclasses directly from our website/online via streaming device from anywhere in the world!
